Ford updates school district’s use of Parent Square app

With Senate Bill 181 in effect, the Russell County School District is continuing its roll out of the app Parent Square as its designated traceable communication system between school employees and students.

Superintendent Michael Ford said with fall sports practices underway, the district’s coaches are beginning to use the app. Roll out of the app is expected to continue in the coming days with the first day of school less than three weeks away.

Senate Bill 181 requires all electronic communication between a student and an employee of the school district to take place within a traceable communication system approved by the school district. This also includes volunteers within the school district, such as volunteer coaches.

Last month, the Russell County Board of Education approved Parent Square and school district email as its designated traceable communication system.
