The Russell Springs City Council will meet in special session this morning.
The council will meet at 7 a.m. at City Hall with multiple items on the agenda.
Among the items on this morning’s agenda is a change to the zoning ordinance that will establish a hospital/medical zone and regulate alcohol and other drug treatment entities.
The issue was brought up before the city’s zoning committee last week. The Planning and Zoning Committee recommended the council adopt zoning restrictions regarding the location of suboxone or drug treatment clinics or facilities. They also recommended establishing a minimum distance of those facilities from churches, schools, daycares, and public playgrounds.
The council will also hold the second reading and vote on annexing a property off French Valley Road and hold a first reading on annexing a property in Deerfield Estates.
This morning’s meeting is open to the public. We’ll have more details later today on local news.
