Police pursuit through Cumberland and Clinton counties ends in wreck

A police pursuit that began in Cumberland County yesterday ended in Clinton County after the person wrecked their truck and it caught fire.

According to reports, deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office attempted to perform a traffic stop just before 4 p.m. on a 2001 Nissan Frontier with Tennessee plates on Highway 61.

The driver ignored the deputies, and continued onto Highway 90 East toward Clinton County.

Officers with Burkesville Police and Kentucky State Police joined in the pursuit.

The pursuit ended when the driver of the truck struck a police cruiser, causing it to roll and catch fire. The driver of the truck was removed from the vehicle and airlifted from the scene.
