No bids were submitted for the Russell County Middle School canopy project.
The board of education solicited bids on a project that would create a walkway and canopy between the Auditorium/Natatorium Complex and the middle school for students walking between the buildings.
With no bids received, Superintendent Michael Ford said the project is at a standstill. However, Ford said the district is optimistic plans to build a new middle school could be accelerated.
The district initially was looking at being able to issue bonds to build a new middle school in July 2028. It’s not known at this time how much sooner that project could begin.
