Mexican man deported from Russell County sentenced for trying to reenter U.S.

A Mexican man who was deported to Mexico from Russell County was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky announced 48-year-old David Lopez-Guillen was sentenced in federal court on the charges. Lopez-Guillen was apprehended in April 2022 after prosecutors say he had been deported and removed from the United States three previous times dating back to 2001.

This is Lopez-Guillen’s second conviction in the Western District of Kentucky for illegal reentry.
