Laker Baseball splits pair of weekend games in Myrtle Beach

The Laker Baseball team split a pair of games in Myrtle Beach over the weekend.

On Friday, the Lakers defeat Abbeville, South Carolina in 8 innings by a score of 8-7.

Ayden McGowan doubled to center field in the bottom of the 8th inning with the game tied at 7. The hit scored Carter Stapp from first to give the Lakers the victory.

Jack Shearer finished with 2 hits and 3 runs batted in. McGowan finished with 2 hits and 2 runs batted in. Mayes Gosser also finished with 2 hits and an RBI. Owen Loy also finished with a pair of hits on the day.

Parker Riggins picked up the win for Russell County, entering in relief and pitching two innings, giving up just 1 hit and striking out 2.

Yesterday, the Lakers fell to East Jessamine in walk-off fashion as the Jaguars won the game on a walk-off single in the 8th inning.

Carter Stapp finished with a pair of hits and 3 runs batted in. Mayes Gosser and Jack Shearer each finished with a pair of hits and Gosser added an RBI. Ayden McGowan hit his first home run of the season in that game.

The Lakers are back in action in Myrtle Beach this morning, taking on Lincoln County.
