The Russell County High School and Middle School Softball teams opened their seasons on the road last night, with the high school falling in a close game and middle school winning big.
The high school Lady Lakers fell to Campbellsville by a score of 11-9. The Lady Lakers were led by Rylen McGowan, who finished the day with 3 hits including a home run. Nevaeh Duncan drove in 3 runs for the Lady Lakers, and Brylie Hardwick and Jaylee Roy each drove in 2. Addy Abrell and Emma Wilson each finished with a pair of hits.
The high school Lady Lakers look to pick up their first win of the season tomorrow when they host Rockcastle County.
The middle school Lady Lakers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to an 18-1 victory over Hart County in 4 innings.
Kinsley Wilson led the Lady Lakers with a 4-hit performance, driving in 5 runs. Kerigan Aaron and Hallie Knight each finished the day with 3 hits. Aaron and Raelyn Warriner each drove in a pair of runs. Lillian Davis got the start in the pitcher’s circle, striking out 8 of 17 batters while giving up just one run.
The middle school Lady Lakers play Casey County on Friday.
