A nearby Social Security office could soon close its doors.
The newly-created Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administrations lists the Campbellsville and Hazard Social Security offices among those to be closed.
The department lists these closings as part of its cost-saving measures.
Other nearby offices, such as Somerset and Danville, are not included on the list.
These social security offices provide information and takes applications for Social Security retirement benefits. They also offer new Social Security cards or replacement card applications. These offices also provide service for name changes due to marriages or divorces.
