State to begin accepting tax returns on Monday; state will pause operations for two weeks in February and March

The Kentucky Department of Revenue will begin accepting state individual income tax returns on Monday, and will begin processing returns the same day.

This year, Kentuckians are encouraged to file early to avoid processing delays. The Department of Revenue will temporarily pause operations for two weeks, from Feb. 26 to March 14, so it can transition to a new, integrated tax system.

While tax returns can be filed anytime, returns and refund payments will not be processed during that two-week pause.

The deadline for Kentuckians to file 2024 returns is Tuesday, April 15.
