Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 500 calls in December

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 500 calls in the month of December.

Sheriff Derek Polston reported 505 calls for service last month, made 47 arrests, and performed 95 traffic stops.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to 5 domestic calls, 7 auto accidents with injuries, and 24 motorist assists.

The sheriff’s office also responded to 12 alarm calls, 3 animal complaints, 31 requests for a deputy, and 13 welfare checks.

The sheriff’s office performed 367 vehicle inspections last month and served 45 court papers.

The sheriff’s office also collected more than $897,000 in property taxes in the month of December.
