Russell County was the only county in Kentucky to see the unemployment rate decrease during the month of November.
According to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, 119 of Kentucky’s 120 counties saw an increase in unemployment rate with Russell County being the exception, where unemployment decreased three-tenths of a percent.
In the 10-county Lake Cumberland area, every other county saw increases of more than one percent.
Russell County’s unemployment rate came in at 6.2 percent, down from 6.5 percent in October. Russell County was tied with Clinton County for the highest unemployment rate in the Lake Cumberland area, behind McCreary at 6.9 percent and Wayne County at 6.3 percent.
Other neighboring counties include Cumberland County at 3.8 percent, Casey at 4.9 percent, Adair County at 5.7 percent and Pulaski County at 5.8 percent.
