RCHS DECA chapter to be recognized at international conference

The Russell County High School DECA chapter will be recognized at the organization’s international conference in April in Orlando, Florida.

Russell County’s DECA chapter will be recognized for achieving Thrive Level, a distinction only 1,100 chapters across the country have achieved.

The Russell County chapter achieved this level by increasing membership from 74 to 115 members, completing a community service campaign with Ronald McDonald House, and completing a multitude of school activities.

The Russell County DECA chapter is advised by Karlie Berry, the Marketing teacher at Russell County High School. The DECA program prepares students for careers in the marketing, hospitality, finance and management fields.

Megan shares updates on a busy summer that included 4-H Camp, county fair activities, and canning classes, while highlighting upcoming opportunities for the community.The conversation covers Extension Homemakers clubs, volunteer efforts, the local book club, food preservation classes, pressure canner testing, and upcoming cooking demonstrations featuring healthy recipes and easy family meals. Megan also explains how residents can get involved in Extension programs and stay connected through the Russell County Extension Office.
