A Jamestown man who led local law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit near Wolf Creek Dam on Christmas night was arrested following a short pursuit in Columbia last night.
Columbia Police attempted a traffic stop on Greensburg Street at around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Corey Sheppard of Jamestown, attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police.
Columbia Police say Sheppard had a total of six active felony warrants between Adair and Russell ranging from theft, probation violations and wanton endangerment.
He has now additionally been charged with fleeing and evading on foot first degree as well as traffic violations.
Sheppard fled from an attempted traffic stop by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office on Christmas night near Wolf Creek Dam. The sheriff’s office said Sheppard nearly struck a deputy’s cruiser before leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Clinton County.
Sheppard was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail following last night’s arrest.
