Russell County’s unemployment rate came in at 6 percent last month, which came in around the middle of the pack in the Lake Cumberland area.
Around the district, Cumberland County had the lowest unemployment rate statewide at 3.8 percent. Casey County came in at 5.1 percent, Pulaski County at 5. 7 percent, Clinton County at 6.3 percent, Adair County at 6.5 percent, and Wayne County at 6.6 percent.
Russell County’s unemployment rate climbed a little over half-a-percent from the same time last year when it was 5.4 percent. However, Russell County wasn’t alone, as 119 of Kentucky’s 120 counties saw unemployment increases from July 2023 to July 2024.
