Russell County native Burton selected as new Columbia Police Chief

A Russell County native has been selected as the new Chief of Police for the Columbia Police Department.

Evan Burton was unanimously approved as the new Chief of Police for the Columbia Police Department at a city council meeting earlier this week.

Burton is a 2009 graduate of Russell County High School and previously served as a deputy with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. Burton joined the Columbia Police Department in 2019.
