The National Weather Service has issued a special statement as high temperatures are expected to take over the area over the next few days.
The National Weather Service in Louisville is advising people to use extra caution if they plan to be outdoors for extended amounts of time this week as high temperatures today, tomorrow and Thursday will range in the mid and upper 90s with heat index values into the upper 90s and low 100s.
The weather service advises people to make sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and wear light colored and loose fitting clothing if they plan to be outside for extended amounts of time.
