The City of Russell Springs hopes to add a par-3 golf course at the city park in the near future.
The council approved a resolution to apply for a grant that would fund building the course.
WJRS News spoke to Mayor Eddie Thomas about the grant.
Councilman Cody Wilson told WJRS News he voted against the resolution because he is concerned about the costs the city would have in maintaining a golf course. Mayor Eddie Thomas said much of the course will be turf, which he said would lower city maintenance costs.
Thomas told WJRS News he believes a golf course would be a great addition for the community and local children.
