Russell, surrounding counties mostly avoid severe weather threat

Several areas around the state experienced severe weather yesterday, but Russell and surrounding counties mostly avoided the threat.

Multiple tornadoes were reported across the state yesterday. Tornadoes were reported in Henry, Nelson, Anderson, Jefferson, Jessamine, Oldham, and Mercer counties, while storm damage was reported in several other areas across the state.

Locally, Russell County mostly saw rain with some thunder and lightning yesterday, but no major reports of damage.

Due to the damage across the state, Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency.
