Russell County ranks high in state in ag products sold

New data from the USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture in Kentucky shows Russell County ranks high in the state in ag products sold.

According to the data, Russell County ranks at the top in sales in aquaculture. Russell County also ranked 8th in the state in milk from cows, 18th in cattle and calves, and 36th in overall livestock, poultry and products.

Russell County also ranked 40th in grains, oilseed, dry beans and dry peas, as well as 55th in nursery, greenhouse, and floriculture.

In total, Russell County ranked 50th of 120 counties in market value of agriculture products sold.

Taking a look at the age of producers in Russell County, about half fall between the ages of 35-64, while 37 percent are 65 and older and just over 13 percent are age 35 or under.
