A weekend boating accident on Lake Cumberland claimed the life of a Lexington man.
According to reports, 36-year-old Anthony J. Williams of Lexington died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Russell County Search and Rescue was called out sometime after 1:30 Saturday morning. Reports are that a boat hit a rock wall near Cemetery Island. A search and rescue diver was able to recover the body of Williams after being in the water for about three minutes.
The coroner’s office was transported by boat to the scene to facilitate the retrieval of the body, which was then taken to Jamestown Marina, according to search and rescue officials.
Crews with Russell County Search and Rescue and Russell County EMS were able to rescue another individual on the boat and provide immediate medical attention. The name of the other individual who was treated by EMS was not released.
