Russell Springs City Council set to vote on water and sewer rates at meeting tonight

The Russell Springs City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight, with the council set to hold a second reading and vote on new water and sewer rates.

The council had its first reading on the proposed rates last meeting, as city officials said increases were proposed due to an increase on the wholesale rate Russell Springs receives from Jamestown.

City leaders in Jamestown have noted that recent increases implemented by The City of Jamestown were across-the-board for Jamestown residents as well, not just on wholesale rates to Russell Springs.

The agenda for tonight’s meeting also includes an introduction for Tractor Supply, which is set to occupy a portion of the old Kmart building.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The meeting is open to the public.

We’ll have more from the meeting on tomorrow’s local news.
