Road work project set to begin in two weeks

A major road project in Russell County is set to begin in two weeks.

The transportation cabinet has placed signs in Russell Springs indicating the recently announced project is set to begin on Monday, March 25.

The project includes adding left turn lanes to U.S. 127 at the intersection with Bernard Drive and Charles E. Peck Drive.

Left turn lanes will also constructed on KY 619 at the intersection of U.S. 127.

A center two-way left turn lane will be added on U.S. 127 at Dr. Joe T. Petty Drive and on KY 619 between Laker Inn and Dowell Road.

The project also includes offset left turn lanes at the intersections of U.S. 127 and KY 80 and the intersection of U.S. 127 and Northridge.

As of now, transportation officials estimate work to be completed around the end of October with a cost just under $3 million.
