Former Somerset Police Captain sentenced to 5 years on theft, trafficking charges

A former Somerset Police Captain was sentenced to five years in prison this week on charges that include theft, drug trafficking, burglary, official misconduct, and other charges.

45-year-old Michael Correll was sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court this week. He entered a guilty plea on 22 charges last month.

Correll reportedly committed these crimes between November 2022, and January 2023. Correll reportedly kept keycards and keys after his retirement on November 1, 2022 and used those to gain access to a computer.

He reportedly also stole methamphetamine from a police evidence room and controlled substances from a MedReturn Box, which is used for people to drop off unwanted or unneeded medications.

Correll was taken from the courtroom and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
