Florida woman arrested after reportedly stealing more than $100K from McCreary County Schools

A Florida woman was arrested after she reportedly posed as a supply company, stealing more than $100,000 from the McCreary County school district.

According to Kentucky State Police, the investigation began last August when state police was contacted after the school district had received invoices from a fraudulent source which had the exact appearance as that of a supply company they had recently made purchases from.

After paying the invoice, they discovered the source of the invoice was not from their supply company they had been dealing with.

State police detectives were able to trace the fraudulent invoices to a woman in Florida, identified as Gail Liuzzo.

She was transported from Florida back to McCreary County, where she was taken into custody on a charge of theft by deception more than $10,000.
