Russell County saw slight dip in unemployment in October

Russell County saw a slight dip in unemployment in October, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

Russell County’s unemployment rate in October was 4.7 percent, down from 4.9 percent in October 2022.

Russell, Pulaski, Wayne, and Taylor were the only counties in the Lake Cumberland area to see decreases, while Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, and McCreary counties all saw their unemployment rates stay the same.

Casey County saw a slight increase from last year.

Russell County’s unemployment rate was still higher than the average in the Lake Cumberland area, which came in at 4.2 percent.

Looking at neighboring counties, Adair and Clinton County also came in at 4.7 percent, Casey County was 3.9 percent, Cumberland County was 3 percent, Pulaski County was 4.4 percent and Wayne County was 5 percent.
