Laker Baseball drops close game to Somerset

The Laker Baseball team dropped a close game at home to Somerset last night.

The Lakers led 5-2 headed into the final frame, but the Briar Jumpers scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th to take the lead, and Russell County stranded the tying run on 2nd in the bottom half of the inning.

The Lakers finished with 6 hits on the night. Trace Stringer, Jack Shearer, Carter Stapp, Mayes Gosser, Walker Stephens, and Mason Jasper each recorded a hit. Stringer and Stephens each drove in a pair of runs.

Trace Stringer got the start on the mound, pitching 6 innings and giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 5.

The Lakers are off today, but will look to end their skid on Thursday when they go on the road to Warren East.
