State burning restrictions remain in place through Dec. 15

While the county lifted its burn ban last week after much-needed rain in the area helped alleviate dry conditions, that didn’t change the restrictions from the state on burning during this time of year.

Each year, the beginning of October until mid-December is classified as Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season.

Conditions during this time can easily cause fires to get out of hand, so a state law was created that prohibits burning any flammable material located in or within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season is set to end on December 15.
