Shoaf indicted on attempted murder charge

A Russell Springs man has been indicted on charges that include criminal attempt to commit murder.

A Russell County grand jury met yesterday and indicted 35-year-old Joseph Shoaf of Russell Springs on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, assault first degree, and possession of marijuana.

The charges stem from an incident early last month in which Shoaf allegedly stabbed his neighbor, Ronald Draper, multiple times in the eye and back of the head.

Shoaf is being held on a $100,000 cash bail, according to the indictment.

The grand jury returned a dozen other indictments yesterday. Those indicted included the following individuals:

Jonathan Atchley, age 36, and Tabitha Blackwell, age 32, both of Russell Springs, indicted on charges of possession of methamphetamine.

Atchley was also indicted on charges of hindering prosecution or appehension.

Jonathan M. Tate, age 48 of Bardwell, charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Jordan B. Wheat, age 28 of Liberty, charged with wanton endangerment first degree and being a persistent felony offender.

Ryan West, age 18 of Russell Springs, charged with three counts of burglary third degree, theft by unlawful taking $1,000 or more; two counts of theft by unlawful taking $500 or more, and criminal mischief first degree.

James Deel, age 48 of Russell Springs, charged with strangulation first degree, assault fourth degree, and being a persistent felony offender.

Steven T. Corbin, age 28 of Russell Springs, charged with wanton endangerment first degree.

Dakota A. Downing and Cooper W. DeGraffenreid, both of Bowling Green, charged with trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in methamphetamine, and trafficking in marijuana.

Downing was also indicted on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and being a persistent felony offender.

DeGraffenreid was also indicted on a charge of operating on a suspended or revoked license.

Rebecca Lawson, age 47 of Jamestown, charged with burglary second degree, assault fourth degree, criminal mischief third degree, and resisting arrest.

Joshua Reeder, age 43 of Jamestown, charged with flagrant nonsupport and being a persistent felony offender.

Elden Passmore, age 38 of Russell Springs, charged with two counts of flagrant nonsupport and being a persistent felony offender.

Kevin Estes, age 38 of Byrdstown, Tennessee, charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.

Eric K. Porter, age 38 of Somerset, charged with theft of an automobile, criminal mischief first degree, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license, terroristic threatening third degree, giving an officer false identifying information, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and being a persistent felony offender.
