Russell County in severe drought, but rain expected today

The latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows Russell County is in a severe drought, along with much of the surrounding area.

Clinton County and Wayne County also fall into the severe drought category, while most of Adair County and portions of Casey, Cumberland, and Pulaski counties are also included with the other areas considered to be in moderate drought.

Rain today is expected to help with the ongoing drought.

Due to the dry conditions, the county burn ban remains in effect until further notice.
