RCHS, RCMS cheer teams bring home hardware from competitions

The Russell County High School cheer team competed in regional competition on Saturday.

The Laker Cheer team finished as runner-up in the Co-Ed and Large Gameday divisions, advancing to state competition in both divisions.

The RCHS team received a score of 97.1 in the Gameday competition, one of the highest scores in school history according to cheer coach Teresa Ellis.

The high school team will compete in state competition on Dec. 8 and 9 in Winchester.

The Russell County Middle School Cheer team was also in action this weekend, taking first place in the regional competition at Bowling Green yesterday.

The RCMS team won the medium division in the 2 1/2 competition.

The RCMS team will compete at state competition on Dec. 16 in Corbin.

Ellis said she’s extremely proud of the Russell County Cheer teams for their performances this weekend and she said she’s looking ahead to state competition next month.
