Lakers victorious in Cooper’s debut as Cerrato scores 30

It was a strong debut for new Laker Basketball coach Brandon Cooper, as the Lakers went on the road and knocked off 4th Region foe Greenwood in last night’s season opener, coming out on top 67-54 behind a 30-point effort by senior Braydon Cerrato.

The Lakers took a 29-26 lead into the half against the Gators before outscoring the Gators by 10 in the second half to secure the victory.

Owen Loy scored 12 and Mayes Gosser scored 11, and Dylan Stanelle and Maddox Shearer each added 6 in the scoring column.

The Lakers host defending state champion Warren Central on Friday with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
