Lady Lakers dominate Somerset in season opener

The Lady Lakers jumped out to a 20-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back as Russell County defeated Somerset 64-35 in the season opener at Laker Gym last night.

The Lady Lakers came out strong and led 22-2 by the end of the first quarter and took a 30-point lead into halftime against the Lady Jumpers before finishing with the 29-point victory.

Addy Abrell scored 14 for the Lady Lakers, knocking down four three-pointers. Aysha Sutton scored 12, Rachel Bolin and Karley Luttrell each added 9, Aniyah Coffey scored 7, Addison Hart scored 5, Natalie Bartrug scored 4, McKenna Ccamaque scored 3, and Jaterria Coffey added one point for Russell County.

The Lady Lakers now look ahead to a road game tomorrow against Boyle County. JV will play at 5:30 with varsity starting at about 7.
