A burn ban is now in effect for Russell County following an executive order by Judge-Executive Randy Marcum yesterday.
No outdoor burning is allowed until further notice with violators being subject to fines and penalties.
The ban is for all open burning due to the current extremely dry conditions.
Russell County joins Adair, Green, and Metcalfe counties as nearby counties also with a burn ban.
The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.
