A Somerset woman was sentenced to 10 years after pleading guilty to charges that she neglected her mother, leading to her death.
48-year-old Abra McDonald was sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court last week on charges of knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult.
According to law enforcement, deputies responded to the home of 67-year-old Karen McDonald back in June and upon investigation, they learned that Karen had fallen in the floor weeks prior to the call and had been in the same spot since the fall.
The sheriff’s office said Abra McDonald lived with Karen and further investigation revealed that Abra had made no attempt to assist her mother or call for help.
The day after Karen McDonald was taken to the hospital, she passed away from physical trauma she sustained.
