Russell Springs approves tax rates

The City of Russell Springs approved its tax rates for the fiscal year at a special-called meeting Friday morning.

The city council approved a decrease on real property and personal property taxes for city residents, and Mayor Eddie Thomas said it was the most significant decrease in city taxes during his 15 years in city government.

The tax on motor vehicles and motor boats will remain the same.

Those who pay before November 30th will receive a two-percent discount and a late penalty will be applied for any payments paid after December 31.
