Last month, 119 of Kentucky’s 120 counties saw a rise in unemployment, with Russell County seeing unemployment rise nearly half-a-percent.
Russell County’s unemployment in September was at 5 percent, up from 4.6 percent in September 2022.
Unemployment in the Lake Cumberland District was 4.7 percent last month, up from 4.1 percent last year.
Russell County’s unemployment rate was the 4th-highest in the Lake Cumberland Area, with McCreary, Wayne and Adair Counties recording higher unemployment.
Only Hancock County saw a decrease in unemployment.
