Russell County Search & Rescue was called out on Sunday to assist with a search operation in Garrard County.
After searching over rugged terrain by multiple agencies in the Tom Dorman State Nature Preserve, two members of the Russell County Rescue Squad discovered human remains.
A death investigation is now underway by the Garrard County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office.
The remains were transported to the state medical examiner’s office for positive identification.
