Lakers Fall to State’s Top Ranked Team, Boyle County, 49-7

The Boyle County Rebels came to Finley Field on Friday night and proved why they are the state’s top ranked football team as they scored on their first four possessions of the game, enroute to an easy 49-7 victory over Russell County.   Boyle County improves to 7-0 on the season, while the Lakers fall to 1-7.

After a Laker fumble on the first play of the game, Boyle County scored on a 9 yard touchdown pass from Dawson to Quisenberry with 9:49 left in the first quarter, and the extra point gave them a 7-0 lead.   Just a minute late, Boyle County again scored on a 35 yard touchdown pass from Dawson to Brown.  The extra point made it 14-0   After stopping the Lakers on the three plays, the Rebels again scored immediately on a 34 yard touchdown pass, again Dawson to Brown.   Extra point made it 21-0.   Then, with 4:46 remaining in the first quarter, Boyle County scored on a 22 yard touchdown run by Austin Bodner, and the extra point gave the Rebels the 28-0 lead at end of first quarter.

Boyle County score on time in the second quarter to lead 34-0 at halftime.   The Rebels then scored with less than a minute played in the third quarter on a 7 yard touchdown run by Feltner to make it 41-0.

Russell County finally did get on the board in the second half on a 80 yard touchdown pass from Owen Loy to Kinnett Wills, and the Jace Skaggs extra point made the score 49-7.

For the game, the Lakers carried the ball 21 times for -7 yards.   They were 7-20 passing for 125 yards and 1 touchdown.   Boyle County rushed the ball 24 carries for 220 yards, and went 12-20 passing for 131 yards and three touchdowns.
