The Laker Band took first place in Regional competition at Madison Southern High School over the weekend.
It was the fourth time in program history the band took first place in regional competition.
The Lakers finished ahead of South Laurel, Garrard County, West Jessamine, and Mercer County, which rounded out the top 5.
Russell County also won awards in Best Music Performance and Best General Effect while earning a Distinguished rating from the judges.
Russell County’s score of 84.85 was the highest score among the east and west regions of Class AAA during Saturday’s regional competitions.
The Laker Band will take the field for Class AAA semifinals at about noon on Saturday at Warren Central High School.
