Adair woman dies following Thursday evening wreck on Cumberland Parkway

An Adair County woman died following a single-vehicle wreck on the Cumberland Parkway Thursday evening.

According to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at around 5:20 Thursday evening near the 48-mile marker on the parkway between the two Columbia exits, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Amye McFall.

According to reports, McFall was traveling west on the parkway when she lost control of the vehicle and entered the grass median between the east and westbound lanes. She re-entered the roadway, but the vehicle slid when it came back onto the road and flipped, and McFall was ejected from the vehicle.

According to law enforcement, when they arrived on the scene, they found the 2002 Chevy Suburban McFall was operating had rolled over, and McFall was ejected and partially pinned under the vehicle.

First responders, along with some passing drivers, were able to move the vehicle off of her and Adair County EMS began life-saving measures before transporting her to TJ Health Columbia and then on to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

McFall reportedly passed away Friday evening at UK hospital.

McFall’s two-year-old son was in the vehicle, but was found in his car seat and only suffered minor scratches.
