Army Corps of Engineers reopens Holmes Bend Beach in Adair County

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently reopened Holmes Bend Beach in Adair County.

The beach was closed for a week due to unsafe E. coli levels, but the weekly samples were within the safe level to reopen the beach to the public, according to a release from the Corps of Engineers.

The Corps said the cause of the high levels could be anything from animals to high rain events that cause run-off, and there was not a definite cause determined as to why the samples got to an unsafe level.
