Three arrested for involvement in alleged drug ring at Wayne County Detention Center

Three people were arrested for their involvement in an alleged drug ring at the Wayne County Detention Center.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation began after an inmate approached a jail employee about paying the employee to bring drugs into the jail.

The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of two inmates at the jail, 45-year-old Jonathan Moran of Monticello and 31-year-old Robert Miller of Bronston, as well as another person, 38-year-old Chariss Carrender of Science Hill.

The three were charged with engaging in organized crime, promoting contraband, possession of a synthetic drug, trafficking in a controlled substance, and bribery of a public servant.

All three are lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
