Russell Springs Fire Dept. responds to call at Bernard Funeral Home

The Russell Springs Fire Department was called out last night to Bernard Funeral Home on Main Street in Russell Springs.

Firefighters were dispatched just before 9 p.m. last night to initial reports of smoke in the attic area.

According to reports, a small fire broke out in the attic where insulation caught fire, but firefighters arriving on scene were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent further damage.

Ten firefighters were on scene last night, and Fire Chief Bobby Johnson said the fire could’ve escalated significantly if not for the quick work of the firefighters.

Firefighters were on scene for over an hour at the site to make sure everything was secure.
