Three escape injury following 2-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon

A non-injury two-vehicle crash on U.S. 127 in front of Russell County High School snarled-up traffic just before school was to let out for the day on Tuesday, according to Russell Springs Police Assistant Chief Bryan Shepherd.

Just after 2 p.m., Bhagavandas Patel of Russell Springs was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry and turned left from the Sunoco gas station onto 127 and in doing so pulled out in front of an Izuzu box truck pulling a dump trailer loaded with drywall, which struck the Camry in the drivers’ side. Trent Wilburn of Lexington, and Jacob Drake of Waco, KY, were occupants of the box truck and were not injured.

Russell County EMS responded to the scene but all those involved refused transport.

The Russell Springs Fire Department and the Russell County Sheriff’s Office assisted Russell Springs Police at the scene.
