A Russell County woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly shot a man in the leg in the Sano community of Adair County, according to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 9 a.m. yesterday, Adair County 911 received a call from Hector Curry Rd. that a man had showed up at a home with a gunshot wound and was needing assistance.
Adair Sheriff Josh Brockman, Deputy Jason Camfield and KSP Trooper Levi Scott responded to the scene with EMS staging nearby until the scene could be made safe .
Mike Bell, 41, was located at the residence on Hector Curry Rd. and received medical attention.
Law enforcement responded to the residence where the suspected shooter, who was identified by the victim as 25-year-old Kaylie Jones, was located in the 500 block of Hooterville Rd. at the residence where Bell was shot.
Jones was taken into custody and a 9 mm handgun was recovered from her possession, according to police.
The preliminary investigation shows that Jones, of Russell County, traveled to Adair County to discuss a relationship the two had. She entered the home while Bell was sleeping and when he awoke to her in his house, an argument ensued and continued out into the driveway where she allegedly pulled a pistol and fired one round, striking Bell in his upper right leg.
Jones was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of assault 1st degree, a class B felony, and burglary 1st degree, a class C felony.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation. They were assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 15.
