Russell County’s latest unemployment rate, this one for the month of April, is the highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland district and comes in at 4.6 percent, according to newly released data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
However, the local unemployment rate decreased from 5.3 percent in March of this year.
Wayne County was at 4.5 percent, Clinton County and McCreary County were each at 4.3 percent, Adair at 4.1 percent, Pulaski County at 3.9 percent, Casey at 3.5 percent, Cumberland and Green counties were each at 3 percent, and Taylor County was at 2.9 percent.
The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland district was 3.8 percent.
Woodford County recorded the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.4 percent while Magoffin County, at 8.5 percent, had the state’s highest unemployment rate.
