RCHS, RCMS teams see success in Tuesday matchups

The Russell County Lady Laker softball team picked up a big district road win on Tuesday night, knocking off the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets in Edmonton by a score of 9-2.

The Lady Lakers are back in action on the road again today as they head to Adair County to take on the Lady Indians. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Laker baseball team is at home Thursday for a district matchup with Clinton County. That game begins at 5:30 p.m. and can be heard on Laker Country 104.9.

The Russell County Middle School Lady Laker softball team defeated Casey County on the road last night by a score of 18-5 in the A game. Chloe Coffey homered for Russell County while Madelyn Roy earned the victory. Carigann Carpenter, Camdin Cooper, Brailee Wilkerson, and Miley Rankins all had 2 RBI each in the game for the Lady Lakers. In the B game, the Lady Lakers also came out on top, this time by a score of 10-0. Lillian Davis was the winning pitcher.

The middle school Laker baseball team fell 8-7 on the road at Northern Middle School Tuesday in the A game. In the B game, the Lakers and Maroons tied at 4-4.

In middle school boys soccer, the Lakers fell in the A game 1-0 to South Laurel but won the B game 1-0. Yahir Reyes had the lone goal for the Lakers.
