Man arrested after driving through school security gate in Wayne Co.

A man in neighboring Wayne County is facing serious charges after police say he drove his car through a security gate at an elementary school earlier this week, according to multiple media reports.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Monticello Elementary School, which was placed on a soft lockdown until police could get there to investigate.

Using camera footage and cell phone pings, officers eventually located the suspect, Kyle Hicks, 25, of Monticello, at a home on Morris Hill Road and arrested him.

Hicks reportedly admitted he was the culprit and was charged with criminal mischief, reckless driving, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.

Hicks was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. Police are continuing the investigation to try and determine the reason Hicks drive through the security gate.
