With Memorial Day weekend upon us, the unofficial kickoff to summer and boating season begins on Lake Cumberland and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects an influx of crowds on the lake in the coming days.
The Corps also says all five campgrounds, including Kendall Campground below Wolf Creek Dam, that are managed by them are full for the coming holiday weekend.
Park rangers say boaters need to be cautious of remaining debris in the water and that everyone on a boat this weekend needs a life jacket that is age and weight appropriate.
Corps rangers also remind boaters to travel on the right-hand side of the lake this boating season.
Officers with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will also be patrolling the waters this weekend.
