Carolina Solar says Mt. Olive Project is “in development”

As an update to a story we brought to you on local news last week regarding the solar project in the Mount Olive community of Russell County, WJRS News spoke with Carolina Solar CEO Carson Harkrader this week.

Harkrader said the company has mostly done its part in the project, and another company, ENGIE North America which is headquartered in Houston, Texas, will build, own, and operate the project.

Harkrader said she couldn’t comment on the “suspended” status by PJM, the regional grid operator for East Kentucky Power, but said the Mt. Olive project is in development and moving forward, but is delayed.

Carolina Solar has details about the Mt. Olive project on their website.

WJRS News has reached out to a representative from ENGIE North America about the project, and we’ll bring you more details as they’re available.
